We are currently looking for people who can fill the following roles:

Oral History Commission

Role Title: Oral History Consultant

Client: The Mercian Regiment Museum (Worcestershire) Dancox House, Pheasant Street, Worcester WR1 2EE

Term: February – August 2025

Closing date: 5pm Monday 13 January 2025

The Mercian Regiment Museum (Worcestershire) is seeking a consultant with experience of undertaking oral history projects with veterans to support the development of The Worcestershire Soldier at the Commandery Project.  This opportunity has been made possible through the generous support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund which has awarded a development grant to help us progress our plans in this area and apply for a full delivery grant in November 2025.

The Worcestershire Soldier at the Commandery Project is a partnership between the MRMW, The Worcestershire, Yeomanry Museum and Museums Worcestershire and will relocate and reimagine the regimental displays currently housed in Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum to create a new visitor attraction in the Commandery in Worcester’s Heritage Quarter.

Working to the Curator of MRMW through the Project Manager, the Oral History Consultant will develop and preserve oral history holdings relevant to the Worcestershire Soldier story by sourcing and collecting testimony and establishing sustainable methods to preserve new and existing recordings. Stories collected by the consultant will be integrated into new interpretation at the Worcestershire Soldier at the Commandery, and all outputs must be finalised in time for the project’s Development Phase Review expected to be completed in early September 2025.
